Nizoral (Ketoconazole) 2% Cream

Nizoral (Ketoconazole) 2% Cream is a recognised antifungal cream that is proven to effectively treat fungal infections on the skin and nails. Nizoral (Ketoconazole) 2% Cream is a powerful cream that provides rapid itch relief for athlete's foot, dhobie itch & infected sweat rash.

What is Nizoral 2% cream?

Nizoral cream is a medication used to treat fungal infections of the skin. It contains the active ingredient ketoconazole, which is an antifungal agent. Nizoral cream is applied topically to the affected area(s) of the skin and works by killing or inhibiting the growth of fungi that cause infections.

What is Nizoral cream used for?

Common fungal infections that Nizoral cream is used to treat include:

  1. Athlete's foot (tinea pedis)
  2. Jock itch (tinea cruris)
  3. Ringworm (tinea corporis)
  4. Fungal infections of the skin folds (such as intertrigo)

How does Nizoral cream work?

Nizoral cream contains the active ingredient ketoconazole, which belongs to a class of medications known as antifungals. Ketoconazole works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component for maintaining the integrity and function of fungal cell membranes.

Nizoral therefore disrupts the fungal cell membrane function ultimately causing fungal cell death. This action prevents the growth and proliferation of fungi, effectively treating fungal infections of the skin.

In addition to its direct antifungal activity, ketoconazole also exhibits some anti-inflammatory properties, which may contribute to its effectiveness in relieving symptoms associated with fungal infections, such as redness, itching, and inflammation.

When applied topically as a cream, Nizoral cream delivers ketoconazole directly to the affected area(s) of the skin, allowing for targeted treatment of fungal infections while minimizing systemic exposure and potential side effects.

How long does Nizoral cream take to work?

The time can vary depending on several factors, including the severity of the fungal infection, the specific type of infection being treated, and individual differences in skin sensitivity and response to treatment. In general, noticeable improvement in symptoms may occur within a few days to a couple of weeks of starting treatment.

For mild fungal infections, such as athlete's foot or ringworm, some individuals may experience relief of symptoms within a few days of using Nizoral cream. However, it is important to continue using the cream as directed, even if symptoms improve, to ensure that the infection is fully treated and does not return.

For more severe or persistent fungal infections, it may take longer for Nizoral cream to work effectively. In such cases, it is important to follow the recommended treatment regimen and use the cream consistently until the infection clears up completely.
