Complications can include pneumonia, bronchitis, sinus infections, and worsening of chronic medical conditions.

How is it treated?

Treatments include rest, fluids, over-the-counter medications to relieve symptoms, and antiviral medications in severe cases. Annual flu vaccinations can help prevent the flu.
