What are Sudafed Decongestant Tablets?

Sudafed Decongestant Tablets are a non-drowsy formula that offers fast, effective relief from blocked sinuses, a stuffy nose and catarrh.

Each tablet contains the active ingredient pseudoephedrine hydrochloride, which reduces the swelling of blood vessels in the nose and sinuses helping to get mucus and air moving more freely, leaving you feeling more comfortable and breathing more easily.

Each box contains 12 tablets that can be taken by children and adults over the age of 12 years.

What are Sudafed Decongestant Tablets used for?

Sudafed Decongestant Tablets provide relief from a blocked nose and sinuses which have become inflamed as a result of the common cold or flu or as a symptom of some allergies such as hay fever.

How does Sudafed work as a decongestant?

The active ingredient pseudoephedrine hydrochloride works to ease nasal and sinus congestion by causing the blood vessels in these areas to contract. This process reduces inflammation allowing mucus and air to flow making it easier for you to breathe through your nose.

Children & Sudafed Decongestant Tablets

Sudafed Decongestant Tablets are only suitable for children and adults over the age of 12 years.

 

Sudafed Decongestant Tablets with other medicines

Taking painkillers such as paracetamol, ibuprofen, or aspirin at the same time as Sudafed Decongestant Tablets can help to provide additional comfort from painful sinuses or aches and pains caused by colds and flu.

Sudafed Decongestant Tablets dosage

This product is for oral use only and should only be taken by children and adults over the age of 12 years. Swallow with a whole glass of water.

Take one tablet every 4-6 hours up to four times a day. Do not take more than four tablets in 24 hours.

Sudafed Decongestant Tablets ingredients

Each tablet contains the active ingredient: 60 mg of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride

Each tablet contains the other ingredients: Lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, maize starch, silica, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, polyethylene glycol, talc and red iron oxide (E172).

Sudafed Decongestant Tablets side effects

Sudafed, like other medicines, can cause some people to experience unwanted side effects. If you are worried about any side effects or they do not improve once you have stopped taking this product.

The most commonly reported side effects include:

  • Headaches
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Nervousness
  • Dry Mouth
  • Feeling sick

If you experience any of the following side effects you need to seek immediate medical help:

  • Fever or reddening of the skin
  • Severe headache
  • Vomiting
  • Confusion
  • Visual disturbances
  • Swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing

Sudafed Tablets warnings

Before taking Sudafed Decongestant Tablets please take the time to familiarise yourself with the content of the Patient Information Leaflet.

  • Do not use this medicine if you have high blood pressure, heart or kidney disease, diabetes, hyperthyroidism and glaucoma.
  • Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before taking these tablets if you are currently taking or have recently stopped taking any other prescribed or non-prescribed medication.
  • This product contains lactose, which some people may be intolerant to. If you have been told you should not consume lactose, speak to a doctor before taking Sudafed Decongestant Tablets.
  • Do not use Sudafed tablets for more than 7 days consecutively.

Can you take Sudafed Decongestant Tablets while pregnant?

As with most medication, it is advisable to speak to a doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking Sudafed Decongestant Tablets if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
