Otrivine Blocked Nose Relief Nasal Spray

Otrivine Blocked Nose Relief is available over-the-counter and treats the symptoms of nasal congestion, sinusitis and allergic rhinitis

General Questions

What is Otrivine Blocked Nose Relief Nasal Spray?

Otrivine Blocked Nose Relief 0.1% w/v Nasal Spray is available over-the-counter and treats the symptoms of nasal congestion that stem from colds, flu, sinusitis or allergic reactions.

It achieves this through the active ingredient xylometazoline hydrochloride, which reduces nasal secretions and returns swollen blood vessels to their normal size, and gets to work within minutes.

What are some alternatives to Otrivine Blocked Nose Relief Nasal Spray?

If you are experiencing allergies like hay fever, options such as Avamys Nasal Spray, Beclometasone Nasal Spray or Benacort Hay Fever Nasal Spray can help alleviate nasal symptoms like a runny nose, sneezing, itching, and congestion.

For non-hay fever allergies, such as reactions to dust or animals, treatments like oral antihistamines can help reduce symptoms beyond nasal blockage, making allergic reactions easier to manage.

How to use Otrivine Blocked Nose Spray

This medicine should only be used by adults and children over 12 years of age, 1 spray in each nostril up to 3 times daily. Do not use the spray more than 3 times a day in each nostril.

  1. Do not cut the nozzle. The metered dose spray is ready to prime before use.
  2. Clear your nose.
  3. Remove the protective cap.
  4. Before using it for the first time, prime the pump by actuating 4 times. Once primed, the pump will normally remain charged throughout regular daily treatment periods. If the spray is not ejected during the full actuation stroke, or if the product has not been used for longer than 7 days, the pump will need to be reprimed with 4 actuations. Be very careful not to spray in the eyes or mouth.
  5. Hold the bottle upright with your thumb under the base and nozzle between two fingers.
  6. Lean forward slightly and insert the nozzle into a nostril.
  7. Depress pump and sniff at the same time.
  8. Repeat for the other nostril.
  9. Clean and dry the nozzle before replacing back the cap right after use. To avoid possible spread of infection, this pack should only be used by one person.
