Promethazine Hydrochloride 25mg (Generic Phenergan) - 56 Tablets

Promethazine Hydrochloride helps Insomnia and can be treated with these tablets for short-term use, helping you sleep soundly. It also helps:

  • Ease allergy symptoms, such as hay fever, itchy, watery eyes, rashes, coughs and sneezes. 
  • Effective relief from allergy symptoms. 
  • It also aids nausea and vomiting, motion sickness, and as a sedative or sleep aid.

Promethazine uses and doses

Promethazine Hydrochloride has a variety of uses, details below will provide quantities needed for specific conditions.  

For allergies (such as hay fever, rashes and hives)

Children 2-5 years:

  • Promethazine Hydrochloride tablets are NOT suitable for this age group

Children 5-10 years:

  • A single tablet (25mg) given at night
  • DO NOT give more than 25mg each day

Children over 10 years and adults (including the elderly):

  • Start with one tablet (25mg) taken at night
  • This may be increased to a maximum of one tablet (25mg) twice a day if necessary

For treatment and prevention of feeling sick or being sick (such as travel sickness)

Children 2-5 years:

  • Promethazine tablets should NOT be given in this age group

Children 5-10 years:

  • Promethazine Tablets should be given in this age group

Children over 10 years and adults (including the elderly):

  • A single tablet (25 mg) to be taken the night before the journey
  • This may be repeated after 6-8 hours if necessary

As a short term paediatric sedative and for short term treatment of insomnia in adults

Children 2-5 years:

  • Promethazine tablets should NOT be given in this age group

Children 5-10 years:

  • A single tablet (25mg) given at night

Children over 10 years and adults (including the elderly):

  • One or two tablets (25mg-50mg) taken at night

Cautionary advice

Use this medicine only as recommended. Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Store in cool dry conditions below 25℃.

Ingredients

A single tablet contains 25mg of active substance, promethazine hydrochloride 

Other ingredients are lactose, maize starch, povidone, magnesium stearate, polyethylene glycol, Opaspray (contains titanium dioxide-E171, hypromelloseE464 and indigo carmine aluminium lake blue-E132) and hypromellose.

Warnings

 Do not take this medicine if:

  • The person under 5 years old
  • You are allergic to promethazine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients.
  • You are taking a medicine for depression called a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI). Also do not take Phenergan Tablets if you have stopped taking one of these MAOI medicines within the last 14 days. If you are not sure ask your doctor or pharmacist
  • The person is unconscious (in a coma) or suffers from severe dizziness, drowsiness or headaches

Talk to your local GP or doctor before taking this medicine if you are pregnant, might become pregnant, or think you may be pregnant. 

Tablets should not be taken 2 weeks before birth.

You should not take Promethazine Hydrochloride Tablets if you are breast-feeding. Small amounts may pass into the mothers’ milk. This can be harmful to your baby.
